Project Description
This Scope of Work (SOW) outlines the tasks, deliverables, and responsibilities required for the execution of all earthworks associated with the construction of a 5,000-worker accommodation camp. The works shall be executed in compliance with approved designs, specifications, local regulations, and environmental, health, and safety requirements.
Objectives
- To prepare the site to accommodate the planned camp layout.
- To execute all required earthworks to achieve the design levels, stability, and drainage.
- To ensure safe, timely, and quality completion of all tasks in line with the project schedule.
Scope of Earthworks
3.1. Site Clearing & Preparationu200b
Removal of vegetation, topsoil, shrubs, trees, and organic matter.
Demolition and disposal of any existing structures or debris within the site.
Stripping and stockpiling of topsoil for reuse in landscaping (if required).
3.2. Setting Out & Survey
Site survey and staking of boundaries, building footprints, access roads, drainage lines, and service corridors.Establishment of site benchmarks and control points.
3.3. Excavation Works
Bulk excavation to achieve required formation levels for camp facilities (accommodation blocks, kitchens, recreation areas, parking, etc.).
Trench excavation for utility services (water supply, sewage, power, communications).
Foundation excavation for structures, septic tanks, and underground storage tanks.
Controlled excavation in areas of unstable soil.
3.4. Backfilling & Compaction
Backfilling around foundations, retaining structures, and service trenches using approved fill materials.
Layer-by-layer compaction to specified densities.
Filling of low-lying areas to eliminate water ponding.
3.5. Roadworks & Pavement Formation
Formation and grading of internal access roads and parking areas.
Preparation of subgrade and placement of sub-base material.
3.6. Drainage Works
Construction of temporary and permanent stormwater drainage systems.
Grading for proper surface water runoff.Installation of culverts and open drains where necessary.
3.7. Erosion & Sediment Control
Temporary works to control erosion during construction (silt fences, sediment traps).
Stabilization of slopes and embankments.
3.8. Spoil Management
Hauling and disposal of surplus excavated material to approved spoil locations.
Compliance with environmental disposal
4. Deliverables
Cleared and levelled site as per approved drawings.
Excavated and backfilled areas are ready for construction.
Completed drainage and road formation works.
Survey reports and as-built drawings for all completed earthworks.
5. Exclusions
The following are excluded from this scope unless otherwise agreed:
Structural construction works (buildings, utilities installation, finishes).
Landscaping and planting.
Supply and installation of camp facilities and furniture.
6. Standards & Compliance
All works shall comply with:
Project technical specifications.
Local building and environmental codes.
Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations.
